Jose Hawilla From Newspaperman To Successful Entrepreneur

A well-known journalist in Brazil, Jose Hawilla, has also ventured into business and succeeded. Together with some partners, he bought Traffic, a leading marketing company in Brazil selling sports gears. Hawilla is a native of Brazil, being born in the state of Sao Paul, particularly in Sao Jose do Rio Preto. He is a happily married man with three kids.

As a journalist, Hawilla can be regarded as someone who belongs to the most influential persons in Brazil. He now owns Rede Globo affiliates as well as an influential network of newspapers in Sao Paulo, Rede Bom Dia. This latter network consists of Good Morning Catanduva, Good Morning Marilia, Good Morning Fernandopolis, Good Morning Rio Preto, Bom Dia Bauru, Bom Cia Jundiai.

Hawilla added another periodical in his list when he bought the Diario de Sao Paulo on Oct. 15, 2009. This newspaper is the former Diario Popular which started its publications in 1884. Before he became a newspaper owner, Jose Hawilla worked as a radio and TV reporter for about 10 years. As he worked as a producer, presenter and commentator, he also managed to study and graduate in law school. He worked with many major communication networks in Brazil, namely Rede Record, Radio and TV Bandeirantes, and Rede Globo. In 1979, Hawilla’s journalistic career abruptly ended when he was fired from his job because he attended a category strike. He was then So Paulo de Rede Globo’s sports head. Being blacklisted, it became difficult for him to find a new job in journalism. Although he was able to get his job back at Globo, he started to think of establishing a business. Now, as a successful businessman, he gives regular talks to young and aspiring would-be entrepreneurs. He is also successful in this endeavor. In one such talk in Rio Preto, about 500 people attended the event. They wanted to hear the successful business tips that he will reveal.
